In-the-know Houstonians have three locations of this healthy oasis that has its roots in New Orleans: River Oaks, Heights and Tanglewood/Memorial. The lucky residents in these areas are close to fresh-made juices, coffees, and smoothies/bowls (made to order), as well as pre-packed salads, soups, breakfast items, family-style entrees and snacks.

The snacks include selections from a Miami farmers market vendor called Glaser Organic Farms like date rolls, kale chips, and nori crackers. I first experienced their treats at the Coconut Grove Farmers Market a few years ago and I was really excited to see them in Houston. Green Fork also has a nice assortment of dry goods such as clean snacks, non-toxic cleaning supplies, and well-curated supplements and home supplies. Some of my favorites include brands like Fond Bone Broth, Branch Basics, Cymbiotika, and Ancient Crunch.

Coffee and matcha lovers will appreciate Green Fork’s home-made creamy cashew milk. Green Fork specializes in gluten-free and organic food that is equally nourishing and delicious. This is a great place for those who need to avoid gluten, seed oils, processed sugars, and other heavily processed ingredients. Ingredients used are listed on their on-line menu of delectables, so you can check things out before you arrive. Personal favorites include Coconut Curry Chicken soup, Cashew Crunch Kale Salad with Grilled Chicken, Thoughtful green juice, Asian Chicken Salad, chia pudding and paleo muffins. Additionally, Green Fork has one of the best gluten-free cookies in Houston: the chocolate chip and cherry cookie. They also have a variety of frozen prepared ready-to-go entrees like grass-fed beef lasagna, gluten free gumbo, and high protein chicken salad (made with greek yogurt).

Last time I was there, I picked up a salad that was a deconstructed chicken spring roll and it was great. My future plans include trying Green Fork’s rotating menu of comfort food Weeknight Meals that can be ordered ahead for pickup two times per week. In the meantime, Green Fork is my go-to for travel. I just stop and pick up a meal and snacks for a long day of travel. Green Fork is truely one of the best places in Texas to get high protein, seed-oil free, and nourishing meals and pantry staples.
